ABOUT US

Safe Omaha Streets (SOS) is a group of citizens who are concerned about unsafe behavior on Omaha’s city streets.

Partners Trilety Wade and Jim Pattavina created SOS in early 2022 to give voice to the citizens of Omaha, and encourage a clear, respectful, and transparent exchange of information between citizens and municipalities/agencies.

Trilety has volunteered for such organizations as RISE, Glacier Creek Preserve, Nebraska Food Co-operative, Young Writers Project, Green Omaha Coalition, and was co-organizer of the local Adopt Elmwood Park & Stream group for 6 years. Trilety learned how to ride a bike at the age of 40, and absolutely loves it but still sticks to the trails as the Omaha streets can be aggressive and scary. She is passionate about improving the quality of life for all citizens in Omaha.

Jim was born in Omaha, moved to New Jersey with his family at the age of 9, then returned to Omaha in 2015. He is a master bike mechanic with a long history of cycling that ranges from BMX and downhill mountain biking to road cycling and commuting. Jim is just as passionate about cars as he is about bikes. Since moving back to the Midwest from the East Coast, he has become increasingly discouraged by the seeming lawlessness of drivers in the City of Omaha.

At present, we are not acquiring non-profit status for SOS but instead will focus on working as a ground-up/grassroots group to coalesce public opinion and influence government action. Thus, SOS is currently run entirely by volunteer energy and commitment.
